Flexibility around hours.The HSE Coordinator will develop and implement a best-practice Work Health and Safety (WHS/State based) framework, incorporating risk management principles, legislative compliance, and continuous improvement strategies. Operating largely remotely, they will collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to ensure effective execution, integration, and ongoing support of these HSE initiatives. They will also manage the in-house web-based safety management system and maintain its presence with regular updates.The primary objectives of this role are to:· Protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of all SAI Global/Assurance/Inform “Workers” by embedding a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with WHS laws, regulations, and industry standards.· Implement and maintain risk management processes, including hazard identification and reporting, risk assessment, and control measures, in alignment with the hierarchy of controls.· Drive best-practice safety management systems, ensuring alignment with WHS legislation, Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice.· Support incident and injury management, including the facilitation of timely investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.· Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and supporting injured workers in safe and sustainable recovery.· Lead WHS training and awareness initiatives to enhance worker competency and engagement in safety responsibilities.· Promote a zero-harm culture by influencing leadership and worker participation in safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.While all “Workers” share responsibility for safety, the HSE Coordinator plays a critical role in embedding WHS excellence across the organization, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.Key Responsibilities/Duties:· Drive a Zero Harm culture across all stakeholders, ensuring WHS is embedded in daily operations of contractors and site based staff alike.· Continually enhance the Health and Safety Framework, Strategies, Policies, and Processes to align with best practices and regulatory requirements.· Lead the incident management process, including reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and prevention strategies. Ensure timely closeout of actions by Line Management.· Oversee/manage workers’ compensation management and return-to-work programs, ensuring compliance with legislation and supporting injured workers in a safe and sustainable recovery.· Develop and deliver WHS training programs, coaching and mentoring workers at all levels to enhance safety competency.· Implement and promote health and wellbeing initiatives to support a safe and healthy workplace.· Participate in regional HSE activities, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives to align with organisational safety goals.· Apply ergonomic principles to office environments, ensuring safe workplace design and injury prevention.· Proactively identify and escalate substandard conditions and unsafe acts, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.· Support and promote key WHS programs, including Stop Work Authority, Risk Management, and other organisational safety initiatives.· Lead the HSE Committee and Representative structures, ensuring worker engagement and participation in safety governance.· Develop HSE performance metrics, integrating lead and lag indicators to measure and drive safety performance.· Establish and oversee the HSE audit schedule, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.· Apply robust risk management strategies, from hazard identification to risk control and reduction, ensuring alignment with the hierarchy of controls.· Embed critical risk management into safety management systems to meet Intertek compliance expectations.Minimum Education/Professional Qualifications, Work Experience Required:· Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field (desirable) with 3+ years in an HSE role.· Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (desirable).· Experience in HSE management within a medium to large business.· Strong background in change management, audits, and investigation methodologies.· Knowledge of safety management systems, incident management, and wellbeing programs.· Experience in workers’ compensation management across multiple jurisdictions.· Understanding of human factors, ergonomics, and incident prevention.· Ability to align HSE initiatives with financial and organisational objectives.· Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel domestically as required.· Leadership & Decision-Making – Takes initiative and drives action to improve HSE outcomes.· Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement – Builds strong relationships across all levels of the business.· Communication & Reporting – Effectively presents information and prepares clear, concise reports.· Technical Expertise – Applies WHS knowledge and technology to enhance safety practices.· Innovation & Problem-Solving – Identifies and implements creative safety solutions.· Strategic Thinking – Develops and aligns HSE strategies with organisational goals.· Planning & Organisation – Manages multiple priorities and ensures structured execution of safety initiatives.Intertek is an Equal Opportunity employer and it is our Company’s policy to employ suitably qualified or experienced persons without discrimination against any employee or applicant for employment due to their ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, gender, gender identity, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected group status.We recognise and respect the value and contribution that individuals of different backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives bring to our organization and we are committed to providing a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment for everyone in our diverse and talented team.Intertek is also committed to ensuring our recruitment process is fair, equitable, and accessible for people from all backgrounds.
