Job Opportunity: Controls and Automation Expert
The role of the Controls and Automation Specialist is to provide crucial support for the continuous operation of site material handling equipment (MHE). This entails resolving electrical wiring faults, communications issues, and detailed analysis of programmable logic controller software.
MHE encompasses bots, tote and product handling equipment, associated conveyor networks. The position is shift-based and reports to the respective Engineering Team Manager. A dotted line exists with the Lead Automation Engineer who provides technical direction and support when required.
* Execute planned maintenance across the site in an accurate, timely, and safe manner, following established procedures.
* Remotely assist partner sites using phone and company communication tools.
* Update records of work activities, tasks completed, parts utilized through stores and training given.
* Collaborate with manufacturers, suppliers, and internal departments to enhance processes and increase machine reliability and performance.
* Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolve issues, and perform repairs.
* Analyze data to find solutions to improve MHE performance and provide reports where necessary.
* Conduct quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard.
* Comply with Health and Safety policies, including those set by regulatory standards.
Key Requirements:
This role necessitates demonstrated technical proficiency in Automation and controls hardware, software, and communications. Formal tertiary qualifications are highly regarded. The ideal candidate will possess analytical skills, problem-solving ability, good communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
A self-starter who is comfortable setting goals and reporting to all levels of management is essential. This hands-on role involves working at heights, utilizing various access equipment, so employees need to be comfortable working at heights.
