Salary total remuneration valued to AU$202,205 – AU$222,587 total rem (pro rata) per annum, including salary component AU$171,352 – AU$188,772 (Academic Level D), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
Primary location: Melbourne; within the School of Education VIC - Melbourne, with involvement in the National School of Education.

About the role
The Associate Professor (Education) plays a key academic and leadership role in the National School of Education by providing input into teaching innovations and curriculum development, and facilitating the effective coordination, supervision and/or mentoring of staff. Key responsibilities involve the ongoing development, delivery, coordination and assessment of units at undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the discipline of Education, in line with the school's national curricula. The Associate Professor will also participate in the academic governance of the school through administrative and advisory roles, contribute to accreditation and review of existing programs, and contribute to research excellence by embedding current research in unit development, publishing in high-quality outlets nationally and internationally, applying for research grants and/or industry consultancies, and supervising higher degree research students.
As part of the role, the successful applicant will contribute to research excellence at ACU and support the school’s mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deliver, coordinate and assess units at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Education.
- Lead teaching innovations and curriculum development within the National School of Education.
- Coordinate, supervise and/or mentor staff; participate in governance and accreditation activities.
- Engage in research activities, publish in high-quality outlets, pursue grants and/or industry collaborations, and supervise higher degree researchers.
Qualifications and requirements
- Academic qualifications appropriate for an Associate Professor (Education) level at ACU.
- Experience in higher education teaching, curriculum development and unit coordination across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to research excellence and supervise HDR students.
- Eligibility to work in Australia; Working with Children Check (WWCC) and/or Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP) as applicable.
- Ability to contribute to academic governance and program accreditation processes.
