The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Construction Manager to join our Utilities division in South Australia on our upcoming water projects.
You will lead and coordinate the full project lifecycle for contracts, taking ownership from early pre-contract stages through to final handover. This includes managing tender development, constructability reviews, and risk strategies, coordinating and integrating design activities, overseeing construction delivery across both brownfield and greenfield environments, and ensuring effective project handover and close-out to meet quality, safety, and performance objectives.
The successful candidate will not only be part of an outstanding team but will also gain continuous project exposure, fostering the development of technical expertise and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage pre-contract activities, including tender development, constructability reviews, and risk strategies.
* Oversee design integration, ensuring compliance with standards and constructability feedback.
* Lead construction delivery for water infrastructure projects, including:
* Water main installations (up to DN1200),
* Gravity and rising sewer mains (up to DN500),
* Trenchless pipelaying (HDD, microtunnelling)
* Pump stations and water treatment facilities
* Complex shutdowns of live water and wastewater networks
* Oversee project execution: supervise Project Managers/Engineers to ensure safety, schedule, cost, and quality target
* Managing design, budgets, cost forecasts, and financial performance control
* Ensuring safety using a "care-based" approach and executing risk mitigation strategies
The successful applicant will ideally have:
* Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related
* Proven experience delivering water/wastewater infrastructure projects in brownfield and greenfield settings
* Strong background in pre-contract activities, design reviews, and full project lifecycle execution
* Experience with trenchless technologies, deep excavation, traffic management, and temporary works
* Skilled in team leadership, stakeholder engagement, contract management, and financial oversight
