About the Role
Leidos Australia is looking for a Health Integration Engineer on a 9‐month contract. The engineer designs, builds, and supports integration services that connect healthcare and enterprise systems, delivering robust interfaces and APIs using healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 v2, FHIR) and integration patterns that ensure reliability, security, and operational supportability.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement integration services using agreed patterns for routing, transformation, validation, error handling, and interoperability.
* Develop and maintain complex data transformations, mapping specifications, interface artefacts, and implementation documentation aligned to business workflows and interface contracts.
* Build and support interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, and common health data formats including JSON and XML.
* Implement observability, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and troubleshoot integration issues across development, test, and production environments.
* Apply security and privacy requirements for sensitive data while collaborating with vendors, partners, and internal teams on testing, cutover, and release activities.
Qualifications
* Customer‐focused and outcome‐driven professional with ability to understand and deliver on client needs.
* Strong experience implementing complex data transformation structures, including mapping, validation, and transformation rule management across multiple systems.
* Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent, with integration engineering experience (health sector desirable).
* Hands‐on experience with integration frameworks/engines such as Apache Camel, Mirth/NextGen Connect, MuleSoft, or Boomi, including HL7 v2/FHIR integrations, APIs, messaging, and integration security and performance practices.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git‐based workflows, observability and operational support tooling, troubleshooting distributed systems and integrations across logs, metrics, networking, and performance.
* Australian Citizen and hold a Baseline level security clearance.
