To learn more about us, please visit: / About the Opportunity Due to rapid growth, NLT Digital Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Software Engineer, based in our Caboolture, Queensland Head office.
Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of globally distributed software developers, and tackle a diverse range of complex and captivating projects in person.
Among these ventures, we are currently focused on the development of Symphony Software, a cutting-edge software solution engineered to track individuals within mines and tunnels.
This endeavour has been mapped out in a five-year plan that encompasses ongoing research and development to ensure the software's infrastructure remains resilient and up to date.
Some of your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Troubleshooting and providing support to clients worldwide Being available for on-call duties when necessary to address urgent client needs Contribute to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Offer robust analytical assistance for both on-site and remote systems Conduct thorough code reviews Provide mentorship to junior team members Develop user manuals and technical guides for internal and external use Please note: This role is based on-site and requires working full-time in the office, due to the physical inter-departmental collaboration required on projects (no remote options).
More About You In order to qualify for this role, we prefer that you have a minimum of 3 years relevant back-end experience in Software Development, preferably supported by relevant tertiary qualifications.
The following skills and experience will be strong assets: You work well in a team and value collaboration Effective virtual communication skills are essential as our team, stakeholders, and clients are located across the globe You are a self-starter that can make a meaningful impact from their first day You excel in customer service You are motivated and eager to learn Brings strong systems analysis and problem-solving skills To dive deeper into the tech you'll be dealing with, here's a big-picture look at what we're all about: Service-Oriented / Microservices Architecture: You will need strong experience designing and working with service-oriented and microservices-based systems to deliver scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
TypeScript: Proficiency in TypeScript is required to develop robust and maintainable front-end and back-end applications.
Front-End JavaScript Frameworks: Significant experience with modern front-end JavaScript frameworks, with Angular preferred, to build intuitive and responsive user interfaces.
Node.js REST APIs: Extensive experience developing Node.js backend services and designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs.
Message Brokers Asynchronous Design: Experience working with message brokers such as RabbitMQ, along with a solid understanding of asynchronous software design patterns.
Enterprise Integration Patterns: A strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns to enable effective system-to-system communication.
Relational Databases: Candidates should have a strong grasp of relational databases (e.g. MySQL) to effectively manage and work with application data.
Network Protocols: A strong working knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, AMQP, MQTT, WebSockets, and REST to ensure reliable and efficient communication across systems and devices.
Device Communication: Experience interfacing with and communicating across devices using various protocols.
CI/CD Version Control: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern development practices to support efficient development, testing, and deployment.
Linux / Unix DevOps Concepts: Exposure to Linux or Unix environments and an understanding of DevOps concepts is desirable.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Experience with GIS or web-based geographical mapping systems is highly desirable and directly applicable to the role.
Software Quality SDLC: A strong commitment to software quality, including testing, code reviews, release approvals, and adherence to the full software development lifecycle.
