This replacement part-time Grade 2 role is, two days per week, 8:30am to 3:30pm, 39 weeks per year.

Overview
About the role
The Co-Educator will under the direction of the Inclusive Education Coordinator, work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary teaching and learning team.
Co-Educators work directly, alongside the classroom teacher to assist with the day-to-day provision for the student in ways that are consistent with the school’s philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Assists teachers in the day-to-day teaching in support of student learning.
- Attends designated school meetings for the purposes of staff training, professional development, or information as required.
- Applies knowledge, adopt attitudes, and take the necessary actions to help educate students in all areas of the curriculum.
- Undertakes all required training in accordance with school policies and WHS requirements.
- Support individual students and groups of students with learning needs.
- Conduct specific activities or learning tasks in consultation with the class teacher.
- Assists children with additional needs in negotiation with the class teacher and Inclusive Education Coordinator.
- Support students and teaching staff on excursions.
- Improve knowledge and skills of working with students with special needs by attending appropriate professional development.
The successful candidates will
- Hold a Certificate III or demonstrate equivalent competencies at this grade.
- Understanding of, and experience in, the rationale and implementation of outcome-based methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective and productive classroom management skills and practices.
- Collaborative approach with staff members, students and parents.
- Competent in educational technology.
- Possess, or be willing to obtain, Basic Emergency Life Support Training.
- Possess, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and complete Responding to abuse and neglect-education & care (RRHAN–EC) training.
- Be flexible and adaptable in their approach to work practices and management strategies.
- Respect the confidentiality of all information about a child.
