Shifts
* Day shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
* Afternoon shift: Monday to Thursday, 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm & Friday, 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm
The Opportunity
Join a leading engineering workshop supporting the rail industry. This role offers stability, excellent pay, and the chance to transition to permanent employment. You'll be part of a skilled team working on locomotive wheelset overhauls, contributing to critical heavy industry projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate CNC machinery on a locomotive wheelset overhaul line
* Wheel & axle machining
* Mechanical fitting and assembly
* Bearing installation and component measurement
* Machine wheels, axles, and support housings for locomotive components
* Inspect and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Uphold and promote a strong safety culture
About You
* Experienced in CNC operating and programming
* Skilled in setting up and operating CNC lathe machines to produce precision components
* Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred but not essential
* Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to machine components accurately
* High attention to detail with sound knowledge of measuring instruments
* Relevant trade qualification or equivalent work experience
* Clear communication skills, both oral and written
* Rail industry experience desirable but not essential - training provided for the right candidate
