About the role
As a Payroll Officer you will be processing fortnightly payroll, involving manual checking of data and applying required corrections for the entire centre. Additionally, creating documentation outlining business processes/policies and offer support in various accounting tasks when needed.
Key responsibilities
* Ensure accurate processing of all payroll transactions
* Maintain and update employee records
* Verify working hours and pay rates according to legislative and contract requirements
* Track employee absences and record accordingly
* Ensure that employees receive precise and punctual workers compensation in adherence to State and MTC Australia guidelines
* Responsible for supporting People and Wellbeing and Shared Services functions through effective payroll service management with responsibilities include accurate payroll calculation and processing management
* Handle any issues with employee wage payments and resolve payroll discrepancies
* Familiarise and comply with all legislation, regulations, Company policies, procedures and standards (and any amendments which may be made from time to time) applicable to your position
Key requirements
* 2-3 years+ in Payroll and currently in a similar position
* Experience in managing payroll for 500+ staff
* Strong technical skills with the ability to resolve backend issues
* Demonstrated experience in computerised payroll procedures in an operating environment with a high degree of accuracy
* Demonstrated experience with a variety of computer software applications, including MS Office Suite, advanced skills in Excel preferred
* Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality on all matters
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Display sound judgment in responding to risks, threats, and incidents, including reporting or escalating issues as required, and managing sensitive situations and information appropriately
