ABOUT CONNECTING HOME
Connecting Home Limited is a Victorian not-for-profit organisation providing services to and representing the interests of Stolen Generations and their families, working across South East Australia. We offer programs that support survivors on their journey of healing by walking with individuals and families with a trauma informed and culturally safe approach. At Connecting Home, we believe that everyone is unique and will require tailored supports and programs to assist with their journey of healing.
Connecting home has been commissioned by DJCS to organise and support the story telling component of the Stolen Generations Reparations Scheme. In 2021, the Victorian Government launched the Stolen Generations Reparations Scheme, recognising the profound harm caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families due to their First Nations Ancestry. As part of this scheme, Survivors were invited to have their personal stories recorded through video, audio, or written testimony. These testimonies represent an irreplaceable body of knowledge, truth-telling, and healing for Survivors, their families, and future generations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
* A passion and proven ability to organise events and provide support to Stolen Generation Survivors from a culturally safe framework
* Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community (highly desirable)
* Relevant degree level qualification in social work or a related discipline is desirable
* A values-based approach to service delivery through a demonstrated commitment to the principles of social justice, and person-centred, client-led service delivery.
