Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role plays a critical part in ensuring robust financial operations across the group.
The position has a strong focus on US sales tax compliance, treasury and cash flow management, and supporting accurate and timely month-end close processes.
Working closely with senior finance stakeholders, the Financial Manager will contribute to building scalable, efficient financial processes that support Digital Matter's international growth ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
Manage US sales tax compliance across relevant entities, including nexus analysis, filings, reconciliations and reporting.
Coordinate with external advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving US tax regulations.
Maintain accurate sales tax records and support audits or reviews as required.
Assist with income tax compliance including US State and Federal tax, filings, reconciliations and reporting.
Support EU indirect tax & statistical compliance including filings, reconciliations and reporting.
Assist in US sales tax system implementation.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
Support day-to-day treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting, monitoring liquidity and managing working capital.
Assist with banking relationships, payment processes and cash management controls across multiple currencies.
Provide clear visibility of short- and medium-term cash positions to senior finance stakeholders.
Assist with intercompany loan and cash pooling maintenance including interest calculation and reconciliation.
Assist with group FX reporting and reconciliation.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
Support the month-end close process, including balance sheet reconciliations, journals and variance analysis.
Ensure timely, accurate and well-documented financial reporting in line with internal deadlines.
Contribute to continuous improvement of close processes, controls and documentation as the business scales.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Process Improvement
Work closely with the Financial Controller, CFO and broader finance team to support projects, group reporting and compliance requirements.
Partner with non-finance stakeholders to resolve queries and improve financial controls and processes.
Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, streamline processes and enhance data quality across the finance function.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CA/CPA qualification (or progress towards) preferred.
Experience
Minimum 5+ years' experience in a similar finance or accounting role.
Proven experience managing international indirect taxes, including US sales tax in a multi-entity and/or international environment.
Experience managing cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions.
Experience working closely with senior finance stakeholders in a growing or complex organisation.
Tools and Platforms
Proficient in Xero and MS Office Suite.
Experience in Anrok, Modlr, Approval Max and Dext desirable.
