Primary objective

Provide high level expert educational leadership in the policy development, program design, implementation, training and

development of the Abecedarian Approach Australia (3a) throughout the Northern Territory (NT) in the Stay Play Learn

Families as First Teachers (FaFT) model in urban and very remote communities

Context statement

The Early Childhood branch provides high level leadership of strategic policy initiatives and targeted programs to improve

the quality and integration of early childhood services to maximise outcomes for children and young people in the Northern

Territory. The Early Childhood branch also leads local and national early childhood policy reforms and key projects, provides

advice to the Minister and the department's senior executive, and engages with a broad range of stakeholders to benefit our

clients.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide high level expert educational advice on the planning and ongoing implementation of the Abecedarian Approach

Australia (3a) including policies, tools and templates to ensure fidelity in implementation in FaFT Stay Play Learn.

2. Provide high level expert professional development training for regional and remote staff in the Abecedarian Approach

Australia (3a) to influence consistent quality educational practices.

3. Provide pedagogical leadership across early years environments to lead and drive quality programs.

1. Develop, implement and manage ongoing quality assurance to support timely decision making for continuous

improvement.

5. Develop and manage a broad range of complex stakeholder relationships including with school leadership, the University

of Melbourne and the Indigenous Early Childhood Parenting Reference Group to ensure culturally effective

implementation.

1. Develop and manage high level program reporting and preparation and presentation of complex correspondence on the

program including Ministerial writing and performance reporting.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to provide high-level expert educational advice on programming, planning and practices in early

childhood programs for children aged birth to five years including development of policy, quality assurance and provision

of professional development and training.

1. Experience in early childhood program implementation for remote students including Abecedarian Approach Australia

(3a).

1. Demonstrated high level oral, written and communications skills including an ability to interact effectively with people

from diverse cultures and a proven ability to effectively manage communication across diverse stakeholders.

1. Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as a member of an integrated team to achieve whole of system

outcomes with schools.

The selected applicant must hold current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory (TRB),

a Drivers Licence and NT Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card)) or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
