About the Role
We are seeking an Environmental Approvals Specialist to join our team at Norton Gold Fields Limited. As a key member of our environmental management team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our commitment to environmental excellence.
You will collaborate closely with the Environmental Manager to ensure that our operations align with contractual environmental standards, legal regulations, planning permissions, and the expectations of key stakeholders.
Key Duties and Tasks
* Deliver environmental/project approvals to meet budget and Life of Mine (LOM) requirements.
* Collaborate with internal and external parties to develop Scopes of Work, undertake and co-ordinate various baseline studies, collation and submission of permit and approval documentation.
* Work closely with regulatory agencies, site departments, site personnel, consultants, and third parties to collate and deliver required site approvals.
* Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of relevant Environmental Management Systems and associated plans, procedures, and forms.
* Maintain compliance with all site licences and approvals.
* Record, maintain, and analyse data and other information for use in the compilation of statutory and corporate reporting/approvals submissions requirements.
* Prepare and submit site regulatory compliance reports.
* Prepare environmental approval documents and oversee their progression through the regulatory assessment stages.
* Provide regular progress updates regarding the status and progress of environmental/project approvals.
Role Requirements
* Relevant Tertiary qualifications, Environmental Science Degree (or equivalent).
* Minimum 5 years' experience in Western Australian mining and approval processes.
* Exposure to planning, coordinating, implementing Baseline Studies, CP, MP, WA, EPA, Groundwater Licence applications/submissions.
* Experience with, and strong understanding of Environmental legislation.
* Experience managing consultants and programs of work, including planning and coordinating relevant studies.
* Exposure to stakeholder engagement and ability to directly manage a small team of Environmental Advisors or contractors.
* Experience in implementing above-mentioned permit requirements in construction/operational settings.
* Computer literacy with MS Excel and MS Word and GIS programs (desirable).
