Community Health Worker - Indigenous Smoking Prevention
We are seeking a Community Health Worker to join our team in Tennant Creek, where you will play a crucial role in closing the gap in Indigenous health outcomes by reducing tobacco smoking.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to the development and facilitation of positive engagement, interventions, and activities in accordance with the TIS program guidelines and organisational policies and practices.
* You will assist the Team Leader and Communications Officer in delivering regional smoking prevention related campaigns, community events, forums, and information sharing that promotes tobacco awareness, cessation, and smoke-free environments.
* Proactively develop and maintain effective networks with communities across the Barkly Region.
* You will support the work of the National Best Practice Unit to identify, develop, and assist in the delivery of responsive smoking prevention and cessation social marketing campaigns.
To succeed in this role, you must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Essential Skills And Experience
* Cert. III in Aboriginal Health or equivalent.
* Experience working in Aboriginal community health or welfare services.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse Aboriginal community groups.
* Ability to communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and cross-agency environments.
* Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications.
