The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Sales & Marketing, this role will focus on marketing related activities by ensuring clear delineation from the existing technical studies team while creating commercial value creation through technical expertise applied directly to customer engagement and market positioning.
Responsibilities Include
* Lead technical representation and support with customers regarding product quality, customer technical forums, and liaise between PLS operations and customers supporting value-add outcomes.
* Creating value by exploring potential opportunities for PLS to extract enhanced value for spodumene concentrate.
* Bridging the gap between PLS operations, downstream chemical refining, and commercial value proposition.
* Supporting development of new commercial models (tolling, technical partnerships) requiring deep process understanding.
* Support participation in customer R&D initiatives that could create long-term commercial advantages.
* Market intelligence by tracking downstream technical developments and emerging trends that could have potential impacts on PLS sales and product strategies.
* Through time in China, establish strong technical relationships with key downstream stakeholders (existing and potential customers).
* Support PLS sales strategy with technical insights on buyer processing capabilities and constraints.
* Monitor Chinese industry publications and technical forums for market intelligence not available in English.
* Translation capabilities with the majority of downstream lithium supply chain dominated by Chinese involvement. Having an ability to translate to establish better lines of communication and swiftly determine potential commercial suitability.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our beautiful West Perth office, near the City West train station.
About You
Essential Skills:
* Fluency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken) essential requirement
* Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Metallurgy, or Materials Science
* 5-10+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 3-5 years in lithium/battery materials, chemical processing, or extractive metallurgy
* Strong understanding of lithium extraction processes (spodumene processing, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy)
* Knowledge of lithium chemical products (carbonate, hydroxide, phosphate) and their applications
* Ability to translate complex technical concepts for commercial audiences
Desirable
* Competitive landscape awareness (producers, technologies, regional dynamics)
* Experience interfacing with customers on technical specifications and product applications
