Role
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges: Range1 and Range2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation and teaching to achieve student outcomes. Teachers are expected to undertake additional duties appropriate to their salary range, qualifications and experience.
Range2 Responsibilities
* Assist the school in enhancing student performance and educational outcomes determined by the strategic plan.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.
* Increase staff knowledge of student learning and high‐quality instruction.
* Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers.
* Provide expert advice on content, processes and strategies for professional learning.
* Supervise and train student teachers.
* Help staff use student data to inform teaching approaches and achieve target learning outcomes.
Range1 Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare and teach diverse student groups and subjects.
* Operate under general direction with clear guidelines and documented priorities.
* Support supervision and training of student teachers.
* Implement school priorities and assist in policy development.
* Focus on classroom management, subject content and teaching practice.
* Engage in induction programs and professional learning activities.
Responsibilities (Overall)
* Direct teaching of student groups and individuals.
* Contribute to curriculum development, implementation and evaluation.
* Undertake additional classroom‐related and organisational duties as assigned.
* Participate in parent‐teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
* Perform non‐teaching supervisory duties.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
* SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to diverse learning needs.
* SC2: Experience planning and implementing high‐impact teaching strategies and evaluating their impact on student learning growth.
* SC3: Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice and providing feedback to students and parents.
* SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community.
* SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with department values; commitment to reflective practice and professional learning.

Teachers who are currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum area(s).

Qualification Requirements
* Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
* For those who completed an Australian postgraduate initial teaching program after 1January2024, proof of satisfactory completion of an accredited initial teacher education program.
* Graduates of a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1July2016 must also have passed the Literacy and Numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE).
Conditions of Employment
All staff are offered a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements. Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre‐employment checks and a probationary period may apply during the first year.
Fixed‐Term Position
As advertised, this is a fixed‐term position. Existing employees wishing to apply will need to negotiate a temporary transfer with their home school principal.
