**The Role**
The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations has an immediate vacancy for a Deputy Secretary, Chief Operating Officer to lead our Corporate and Enabling Services Group.
Reporting to the Secretary, the Chief Operating Officer will work with the Secretary, the department's Executive and internal stakeholders to enhance, promote and effectively contribute to the corporate strategic direction of the department. You will be accountable and responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the group's responsibilities to build capability and performance across the department, ensuring the reputation and accountability of the department, and helping to deliver the department's strategic priorities while supporting a positive, versatile, and innovative workplace culture.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
As Deputy Secretary, Chief Operating Officer, you will be an integral part of the department's Executive and will be responsible for making significant contributions to the leadership and strategic direction of the department.
You will lead all aspects of the Corporate and Enabling Services Group through shaping and influencing key financial, technology, people, communication, governance, parliamentary, and legal capability outcomes, across the following Divisions:
- People, Communication, Parliamentary and Governance
- Finance and Budget
- Technology and Services
- Digital Solutions
- Legal and Assurance.
You will be a highly motivated leader with exceptional management and leadership skills and outstanding change management skills. You will possess excellent stakeholder management capability and the capacity to work with all members of the Executive, Ministers, and other key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- providing quality advice to Ministers
- effectively managing key internal and external relationships
- developing and supporting high performance and engagement of staff
- managing departmental operations effectively and efficiently.
**Qualifications and Education**
The position requires an academic and/or skill level that is consistent with the key deliverables and responsibilities set out above and in conjunction with the SES Band 3 Work Level Standards.
