The Rural City of Murray Bridge is seeking an experienced Project Officer to join our City Assets & Capital Delivery Team on an ongoing basis, to play a key role in delivery high-quality projects

Position Overview

The Project Officer is responsible for the end-to-end management and delivery of allocated capital, key, developer-funded & other projects/programs as required within the Infrastructure & Environment Portfolio.

The role ensures projects are delivered safely on time, within approved budgets and to required quality standards, exercising professional judgement within established policies, delegations and delivery frameworks. The position provides specialist project, contract and financial management expertise and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes aligned with Council's Community Plan and Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Unit Manager, Capital Delivery, responsibilities of this role include:

* Planning, managing and delivering allocated capital, key, developer funded & other projects/programs as required from initiation to completion, ensuring outcomes are achieved within approved scope, budget, quality and timeframes.
* Monitoring, controlling and reporting on project budgets, including forecasting, cost control, variations and financial performance, within approved budgets.
* Maintaining accurate, complete and auditable project documentation, records and systems in accordance with governance and reporting requirements.
* Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, community representatives and government agencies to support project delivery.
* Providing guidance, technical support and mentoring to staff within area of expertise and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or discipline (Project Management/Contract Management, Engineering) or equivalent experience, or significant demonstrable experience in capital project delivery.
* Experience managing financial, physical and technical resources within approved budgets and delegations.
* Ability to interpret and apply construction plans, specifications, and contract documentation.
* Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate multiple projects concurrently, including allocation of plant, equipment and labour (including external & internal resources).
* High-level oral and written communication skills, including reporting and preparing project documentation for internal and external audiences.
* Negotiation and problem-solving skills to achieve outcomes in complex or challenging situations.

The position is offered as a full-time, ongoing contract at General Officer Level 6 in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council's current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $108,411 to $115,775 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
