The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to take ownership of the day‐to‐day accounting and finance operations of the business, including reporting, compliance, process improvement, and operational financial support.
Working closely with the CFO and Managing Director, this is a hands‐on role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in a fast‐paced environment, and brings strong attention to detail, organisation, and problem‐solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general accounting functions
* Process circa 25-person payroll and super transactions
* Prepare management reporting, financial analysis, and project‐related reporting
* Monitor cash flow, budgets, expenses, and investigate variances
* Maintain accurate financial records, reporting systems, and project cost tracking
* Process payments to employees, subcontractors, and suppliers
* Manage BAS, IAS, payroll tax, superannuation, and statutory obligations
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legislative requirements, and internal controls
* Support audit and reporting requirements as required
* Identify and implement improvements across finance systems, reporting, and workflows
* Support integration between accounting and job management systems
* Improve financial visibility, cost tracking, and reporting accuracy
* Provide guidance and support to the finance administration staff
* Work with operational teams and leaders to provide accurate financial information and reporting
* Liaise professionally with suppliers, subcontractors, auditors, and external stakeholders
About You
* 5+ years' experience in an Accounts Manager, Senior Accounts, or similar hands‐on finance role
* Strong Xero or similar accounting system experience
* Demonstrated payroll, BAS/GST, compliance, and financial reporting capability
* Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Leadership or team supervision experience
* Professionalism, discretion, and a practical, solutions‐focused approach
* Experience in construction, building, job costing, or project‐based environments
* Truth Engine or similar job management system experience
* Accounting qualification (or working towards)
* Advanced reporting/process improvement capability
