Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll Officer plays a critical role within the Finance team and is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, tax calculations, and statutory deductions. The role also supports the continuous improvement and maintenance of all payroll data and systems to ensure compliance, efficiency, and reliability across the payroll function.
What you will do
Activate new employees after onboarding and ensure accurate data entry into the payroll system
Update, verify, and maintain payroll records in line with company policies and legislative requirements.
Monitor and report on employee working hours to support managers with timesheet approvals.
Maintain and process deductions, reimbursements, child support payments, employee loans, and overpayments.
Develop and maintain work patterns and award interpretations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Process and finalise periodic payroll for all employees, including superannuation guarantee payments.
Prepare and assist with payroll tax reporting and other statutory requirements.
Assist with month-end close processes and payroll-related reporting.
Conduct periodic audits of leave accruals, superannuation accruals, and payments.
Uphold your duty of care at all times to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984.
Wear appropriate PPE when required and report any safety concerns immediately.
Report hazards, incidents, injuries, or illnesses promptly.
Participate in safety meetings, training, toolbox talks, and other WHS initiatives.
Perform additional tasks as directed by the CFO or Finance Manager.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
Work Experience & Skills
5+ years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
Strong understanding of payroll tax and superannuation obligations.
Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Proficiency with payroll software systems.
