The Yarram and District Health Service (YDHS) is based in Yarram, 220 kilometres south east of Melbourne on the South Gippsland Highway in rural Victoria. Yarram is 73 kilometres south west of Sale and 62 kilometres south east of Traralgon.
Our geography places us 15 minutes to the beach and 2 hours from many of Victoria's ski fields, which positions you in the perfect place for summer and winter day trips to some of the most picturesque landscapes in our state.
The Yarram and District Health Service (YDHS) originally began operation as the Yarram and District Hospital in 1917, later changing its name in 1993 to reflect the multi-purpose facility it is today. YDHS provides our community with Acute inpatient services, including Dialysis, Urgent Care, Residential Aged Care, respite care, Primary Health, community services and an integrated GP HealthCare Centre.
We have a strong focus on integrated service models providing seamless, streamlined healthcare, to the community which is critically supported by our skilled and dedicated staff group of approximately 180 people.
Position overview
We are seeking a self‑motivated qualified or un‑qualified team player to join our maintenance team. This role is suited to an energetic, motivated individual interested in working in the Health Service. The position will report to Maintenance Coordinator and will include general maintenance duties.
Responsibilities
* To deliver high quality, cost effective maintenance services to all areas of the Health Service.
* To deliver high quality, cost effective maintenance services to external customers of the Health Service, i.e. HACC Home Maintenance Program.
* To participate in the planning, implementation and supervision of maintenance services and practices throughout Health Service facilities.
* To ensure the responsible management of Health Service resources within the Maintenance Department.
* Complete administrative tasks, maintain statistics and check accounts as directed.
* Perform general gardening tasks to ensure all Health Service grounds and gardens are maintained to the expected standard. These general gardening tasks include but are not limited to:
o Lawn mowing.
o Weeding.
o Gutter cleaning.
o Land scaping.
o General green waste, rubbish removal and clean up.
The Maintenance Officer should demonstrate

Duties
* To undertake maintenance duties throughout all departments of the Health Service as scheduled and as directed.
* To undertake general gardening tasks for the Health Service as scheduled and as directed.
* To have a good understanding of the role of the Maintenance Department and the importance of the Department's role in the smooth running of the organisation.
* To comply with Health Service policies and procedures.
* Ensure that the standards and practices within the Maintenance Department are in compliance with industrial requirements and are consistent with the goals of the Health Service.
* Maintain stores and equipment with regard to economy, repair and replacement of equipment.
* Ensure that Incident Reports are completed and reported to the Maintenance Coordinator.
