The University of Sydney's School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is offering an exciting opportunity for a PhD Teaching Fellow to become part of its academic community. This role allows candidates to engage in teaching and learning activities while continuing to pursue their individual research.
We are looking for a current PhD student to join us in a part-time (0.2 FTE) Associate Lectureship role in the area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an appropriate PhD program in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (or relevant area) within the University of Sydney and anticipate maintaining their enrolment for the duration of their appointment. The PhD Teaching Fellow will:
* engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards for education-focused staff
* contribute directly to the delivery of in-person practical classes, tutorials, workshops and other learning activities related to Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Genetics & Genomics
* contribute to the development, deployment and evaluation of learning resources for students and training resources for casual academic staff
* engage constructively with student feedback and other evaluations of teaching practice
* suggest, implement and evaluate improvements and innovations in teaching and learning
* develop and understand best practices in teaching and learning
* attend and contribute to School/Faculty meetings and contribute to events such as Open and Info Days
* contribute to education-related projects aligned to the strategy of the Faculty.
Training will be provided by Faculty staff and teaching mentors. Additionally, you will have access to various University training courses and modules on topics such as team teaching, creating positive environments, and peer-to-peer learning.
About you

* is enrolled in a PhD degree at the University of Sydney in Biochemistry and Molecular biology or relevant areas
* has a passion for teaching, with previous tutoring experience highly preferred
* possesses good time management and organisational skills
* has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* is motivated and able to work independently
* has experience using Canvas (or equivalent learning management systems) and other online learning tools.
