THE ROLE We are seeking to engage a Group Power Infrastructure Lead (Power Specialist) to provide strategic and technical leadership to manage the power supply to our Burkina Faso operations and associated business activities, including oversight of power design, asset management and project delivery. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our current operational and engineering / technical team. Based in the WAF Perth office, with regular travel to the Company’s operations in Burkina Faso. The key focus areas for this role will include: Development of power simulations (modelling / optimisation), including evaluation of performance, opportunities for improvement, storage options, risks and trade offs. Ongoing review, development and implementation of the Power Strategy to ensure optimum reliability and performance to the Burkina Faso operations. Evaluation and prioritization of power projects. Monitor compliance to technical and industry standards. Identify and assist in the procurement of additional power sources as required to ensure operational stability. Provide specialised power system expertise, risk management and technical support to stakeholder groups, project teams and operations. Share technical knowledge with electrical / engineering, powerhouse and technical personnel. Provide technical support and assistance as required to ensure that current power supply (powerhouse, grid, generator) is delivering the optimum power supply to the operations. Prepare technical reports. To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications and professional experience: Bachelor qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Technical expertise – power supply, which includes: HV, thermal power plants, mineral processing and grid. Employment experience which includes electrical design for mining and power generation. Project Management qualifications (highly regarding) and experience in the mining sector (essential). Previous experience managing power projects in West Africa (or a similar jurisdiction) essential. A thorough working knowledge of regulation and legislation to ensure that the Power Strategy is compliant. Excellent working knowledge of engineering design, principals and quality control. Understanding of, and adherence to environmental permitting processes and obligation is essential. Highly developed data and business analytic skills. Previous experience in power studies. Have an excellent working knowledge and understanding of the capabilities of power options, including thermal, solar, wind, grid and battery storage. Demonstrated experience with defining project scope, working across a range of disciplines.
