About the role
The Cold Works/Fabrication Technician is responsible for preparing and finishing chassis supplied by our prep team, and completing key mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.

What you'll be doing
* Manufacture metal structural components according to design specifications and deadlines
* Interpret and follow technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication output
* Operate and maintain metalworking equipment to complete assigned tasks efficiently
* Perform quality control checks on fabricated components, documenting results as directed
* Assist in daily production activities, supporting team goals and timelines
* Participate in toolbox meetings to receive goals, safety protocols, and operational priorities
* Maintain accurate records of tasks, including material usage and defect observations
* Support the update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with input from the Fabrication Supervisor
* Report damaged stock, near-misses, and hazards to the Fabrication Supervisor
* Complete stock request, quarantine, and batch number documentation for production materials
* Execute ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Fabrication Supervisor to support operational objectives
What we're looking for
* Cert III in Metal Fabrication or Welding and experience in mechanical assembly, automotive/trailer work, or general fabrication
* Competent with spray painting equipment and paint preparation
* Basic 12V electrical knowledge (wiring, troubleshooting)
* Understanding of ADRs relating to running gear and towing systems (advantageous)
* Ability to use hand and power tools safely
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
* Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
* Effective communication and problem-solving skills
* Effective time management, punctual and reliable
* Desired but not essential:
o Have MIG welding experience in light gauge 1.5mm to 3.0mm RHS steel and Aluminium components
o The ability to read and interpret working drawings, schematics and technical manuals
o Ability to tow and maneuverer trailers into position
