Role Overview
Are you a skilled Lawyer looking for your next challenge? A top-tier law firm has partnered with Elevate. It is seeking a qualified lawyer for a secondment with a leading resource sector company on an 11-month contract to provide expert advice on land access, native title, and tenement management.
This role will commence in early February and will be based in Perth, with flexibility to consider candidates located in Adelaide or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
* Negotiate and draft land access agreements, licences, and easements with landholders, Traditional Owner groups, and government agencies.
* Manage native title compliance, including ILUAs, heritage surveys, and cultural heritage obligations.
* Advise on acquisition, renewal, and compliance for mining and exploration tenements.
* Draft and review agreements (MOUs, ILUAs, heritage protocols) and develop SOPs for internal teams.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and provide regular updates on risks and progress.
* Identify and mitigate legal risks, support dispute resolution, and monitor regulatory changes.
About You
* A minimum of 5 years of post-admission experience.
* Demonstrated experience advising on native title matters, negotiating Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs), and managing cultural heritage compliance.
* Strong understanding of mining and exploration tenure processes, including acquisition, renewal, and compliance requirements.
* Familiarity with relevant legislation governing native title, cultural heritage, land access, and mining tenements.
* A collaborative mindset and ability to provide strategic, fit-for-purpose legal solutions.
