About Us
This is an exciting opportunity to work in our State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) who regulates three statutory insurance schemes in NSW. This role sits more specifically in our Advanced Analytics team. The Advanced Analytics team deal with a range of data and complete many different types of requests, including building new predictive models and using large linked data sets.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
* Lead the end-to-end execution of predictive models and algorithms to support data-driven decision-making
* Oversee all phases of data management, including extraction, transformation, enrichment, and cleansing
* Develop custom algorithms and applications using advanced programming techniques to solve real-world problems
* Apply data science methods to large, multi-source datasets to generate insights aligned with business objectives
* Design tools and processes to monitor model performance and ensure data accuracy and effectiveness
* Champion data science best practices and thought leadership to enhance customer outcomes across the organisation
* Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to conduct experiments and communicate actionable insights

About you
* An analytical thinker who can think outside the box to solve complex problems.
* A flexible worker who can adjust their communication style and outputs to suit a variety of stakeholders.
* Ability to design, implement, and evaluate predictive models, causal inference, and optimization techniques.
* Ability to provide model visualisation and plain language explanations for stakeholders.
* Experience in cloud system, data ingestion, and pipeline development and management.
* Technical skills in technologies like SQL, R, Python, GIT, DataBricks and Snowflake.
* Tertiary qualifications in data engineering/information technology, statistics mathematics or equivalent.
* Excellent skills in technical mentoring and supporting junior team members.
