About SHIPS
SHIPS is a progressive and inclusive psychology organisation with a mission to reduce shame and stigma attached to sex and sexuality for individuals and our community. We are industry leaders as the first psychology practice in Australia to focus exclusively on sexual health and its intersection with mental health and marginalised communities. We train and supervise psychologists to deliver exceptional, ethical, trauma-informed sexual health treatment. We develop and share evidence-based resources informed by community feedback. We are a kink-friendly, poly-friendly, sex work positive and LGBTIQA+ inclusive organisation.

About our clinic
Since May 2025, we have been located in the East Brunswick Village Wellness Centre: Level 1, 6 Bluestone Way, Brunswick East. The Wellness Centre is designed for accessibility and comfort, offering:
- Above and below ground parking, and 90-minute free parking at Coles (daily max $8).
- Easy access via the 96 tram line and 506 bus.
- Lift access and accessible client and staff bathrooms.
- Dimmable lighting and temperature control in all consulting rooms.
- Double walls in all consulting rooms for sound minimisation.
- Co-working space and communal kitchen.
- On-site: Inner North Medical Clinic, F2 Pilates, Better Project Gym and East Brunswick Psychology.
Develop your skills for sexual health-specific treatment through supervised practice, training, and being part of our passionate team. Duties include:
Treatment: Deliver psychological treatment for individuals (and/or more than one person if you have relevant training and experience) for sexual health, intimacy and related mental health issues. Deliver psychological treatment for mental health issues for marginalised community members (e.g., kink or BDSM practitioners, non-monogamous relationship structures, sex workers, LGBTIQA+ communities).
Assessment: Conduct WPATH assessments to support gender affirmation referrals and procedures. Complete written reports to support gender affirmation referrals and procedures.
Administration and communication: Maintain clinical notes. Respond to internal and external emails. Write mental health review letters for General Practitioners. Write professional assessment reports and support letters for clients and health professionals. Consult with health practitioners regarding treatment. Liaise with administration and practice staff regarding therapeutically informed communication with clients, as well as booking and availability. Attend monthly team meetings to maintain cooperative care of clients.
About you
Full Ahpra registration as a psychologist. Minimum of 2 years clinical experience post-registration. Necessary: completed training in trauma processing modalities (e.g., EMDR, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems) or willingness to complete. Desirable: training in or experience with sex and intimacy treatment. Strong reflective practice. Sensitive and collaborative approach to treatment. Passion for learning and self-development. Ability to work independently and in team environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Incorporates self-care and work/life balance into practice.
* We accept applications from Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (with a Medicare provider number), Psychiatrists and GPs. We would also consider Relationship Counsellors with relevant sex therapy, relationship therapy, or LGBTIQA+ experience and willing to provide only relationship therapy sessions at SHIPS. ^ If near to obtaining full Ahpra registration or with less than 2 years post-registration experience, you may be considered for a New Graduate Sexual Health Psychologist role (salary range: $90,000-$95,000).
