This course is offered as a two part, two semester sequence, mainly for science majors and students on the pre-medical school track. As such, the curriculum is highly structured and set by the home department in NY.

Responsibilities of the instructor include preparing and leading the weekly class sessions, recitations and laboratory classes as well as course coordination, writing assignments, and grading. Laboratory provides training in the basic techniques of the organic chemistry laboratory, including crystallization, distillation, extraction, and other separation techniques such as column chromatography and gas chromatography.
