Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) owns, develops and manages the Osborne Naval Shipyards, supporting the Commonwealth's Naval Shipbuilding Plan. We are responsible for the design, construction and ongoing management of critical shipyard infrastructure, including the new Nuclear‐Powered Submarine Construction Yard for the AUKUS program, as well as the operation and maintenance of common-use facilities.
Based in Adelaide, ANI plays a central role in delivering one of Australia's most significant long‐term national programs. As we continue to grow, our focus is on building the capability, leadership and workforce readiness needed to deliver now and into the future.
As Capability Manager, you will lead the development and embedding of organisational capability across ANI, ensuring our workforce has the skills, frameworks and development pathways required to support a complex and evolving environment.
You will design and implement capability frameworks, career pathways and development programs, partnering closely with leaders to uplift capability, strengthen leadership pipelines and enhance organisational effectiveness.
This is a pivotal role with the opportunity to shape how ANI develops its people at scale and supports sustained organisational growth.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design and embedding of capability and competency frameworks aligned to workforce strategy.
* Build, lead and develop a high‐performing capability team, setting clear direction, prioritising work and fostering a collaborative, high‐impact culture.
* Develop and oversee learning, onboarding and leadership development programs.
* Establish career pathways, job families and progression frameworks to support growth and retention.
* Lead talent, succession and mentoring frameworks in partnership with People and Talent teams.
* Embed capability and role clarity into organisational design and operating models.
* Partner with leaders to identify capability gaps and translate these into targeted development initiatives.
* Support organisational change by embedding learning, capability and adoption strategies.
About You
* Proven experience in capability, learning or organisational development roles
* Experience designing frameworks such as capability models, career pathways or leadership programs
* Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
* Ability to translate workforce needs into practical, scalable solutions
* A proactive, solutions‐focused mindset with strong attention to detail
