Maintenance – Handyperson Marina Supervisor
Hamilton Island is seeking an experienced Handyperson Marina Supervisor to join our Engineering & Services team.
This is a hands‐on leadership role responsible for maintaining the presentation, safety and functionality of our marina and waterfront infrastructure, while supervising a small team and coordinating contractors.
Working in one of Australia's most iconic destinations, you'll play a key role in ensuring our pontoons, jetties, walkways and berthing facilities meet the highest standards for guests, residents and vessel owners.
Why you'll love working with us
* Work with a skilled, close-knit team – be part of a professional and collaborative culture
* Live in paradise – enjoy island living plus everyday essentials like a grocery store, school, gym, medical centre, post office, and even our own airport
* Enjoy incredible perks – subsidised furnished staff accommodation, discounts on dining and island activities, ferry concessions and more
* Support that matters – work for an employer that champions tradie wellbeing through initiatives like our partnership with Trademutt
* Easy to get to – fly direct from major cities
Where you'll make an impact
* Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance programs across marina and waterfront assets
* Supervise and direct staff including work allocation, rosters, time approvals and quality control
* Undertake hands‐on maintenance tasks including timber repairs, fastener replacement, sanding, painting and marine hardware repairs
* Conduct condition assessments, prepare reports with photos and cost estimates, and raise Capex requests where required
* Inspect and maintain berth utilities and service pedestals, escalating specialist works to qualified trades
* Liaise with and manage contractors to ensure works meet safety and quality standards
* Apply marine‐specific WHS controls including PFD use, exclusion zones, rescue preparedness and weather risk management
* Maintain accurate compliance documentation and asset records within the maintenance system
* Manage tools, equipment and vehicles to ensure security, safety and roadworthiness
* Complete project work as directed by the General Manager of Engineering & Services
* Participate in emergency and volunteer works to support guest and staff safety when required
What we're looking for
You're a confident leader and practical problem‐solver who enjoys variety in your day and takes pride in delivering high‐quality work.
You have experience supervising maintenance teams and are comfortable balancing hands‐on trade work with planning, compliance and contractor coordination.
