About the Role
We are looking for a part‐time sandwich hand / kitchen hand at our Gymea venue. The restaurant is open 7 days a week and this role requires 5 hours per day, 5 days per week (Wednesday to Sunday). Days may be negotiable if required.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Adherence to food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
* Preparation and assembly of sandwiches, wraps, fruit platters and other simple menu items.
* Basic food preparation tasks such as cutting, portioning and stocking.
* Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas and equipment.
* Dishwashing and general cleaning duties.
* Safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals in line with procedures.
* Waste management: correct sorting and disposal of food and packaging.
* Follow menus, food standards, recipes and preparation processes consistently.
* Support efficient service by ensuring items are prepared, stocked and ready.
* Maintain presentation standards of food to ensure a consistent, high‐quality offering.
Essential Capabilities
* Follow food preparation instructions, recipes and portion control requirements.
* Strong understanding of food safety standards or willingness to obtain Food Safety / Food Handling certification.
* Work efficiently in a fast‐paced, high‐volume environment.
* Reliability and punctuality with a consistent approach to shifts.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment at all times.
* Physical capability to perform kitchen duties (standing for long periods, repetitive tasks, light lifting).
* Awareness of allergen management and safe food handling practices.
* Positive, can‐do attitude with willingness to learn and take direction.
* Communicate clearly with kitchen and front‐of‐house teams during service.
* Previous experience in a café, sandwich bar or fast‐paced kitchen environment (preferred but not essential).
