Job Description
National College of Skills, based in Mossman, QLD, is a respected training provider delivering practical, career-focused education across multiple sectors including business, aged care, hospitality, horticulture, and construction. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic team. This position plays a key role in supporting the smooth financial and administrative operations of our college and training services. Job Advertisement: Accounting Clerk – National College of Skills (Mossman, QLD) Key Responsibilities:
* Process accounts payable and receivable transactions with accurate coding to training-related cost centres and program budgets.
* Prepare and reconcile payments to training partners, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring timely and compliant disbursements.
* Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records related to student enrolments, course payments, and training material costs.
* Compile and analyse expenditure data for budgeting and funding submissions, including government-funded training programs.
* Prepare reconciliations of college bank accounts and petty cash used in remote training locations.
* Support preparation of profit and loss summaries, tracking revenue from course fees and subsidies against operational costs.
* Allocate spending to appropriate project accounts and assist with financial reporting for audits and compliance checks.
* Assist in compiling quotations and cost estimates for customised training programs and industry contracts.
* Update and maintain cost databases for recurring purchases such as textbooks, workshop equipment, PPE, and IT supplies.
* Liaise with internal staff to clarify expense claims, resolve discrepancies, and support monthly financial close processes.
* Prepare ad-hoc financial summaries and reports for management decision-making and board meetings.
* Contribute to the development and refinement of cost-tracking systems related to course delivery, especially in regional settings.
* Provide administrative support in processing student enrolments, invoicing, and issuing receipts when required.
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 + Superannuation | Full-time | 38 Hours per Week Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
* Completed AQF Certificate II or III in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business, or a related field.
