We're seeking a driven Senior Project Manager to lead the coordination and delivery of our Rare Disease (RD) Program — a mission-led initiative at the cutting edge of genomic research.
In this high-impact role, you'll work across teams and borders, translating strategy into action and keeping complex, multi-partner research projects running smoothly. You'll partner closely with our RD Lead and act as the central connector across data science, software engineering, and scientific teams, helping ensure critical milestones are met and nothing falls through the cracks.
From unblocking workflows to managing timelines, coordinating global collaborations, and streamlining team operations — you'll be the go-to person who keeps the program on track and moving forward.
Your Responsibilities Include
* Drive day-to-day coordination and long-term delivery of the RD Program
* Manage multiple workstreams across internal and external teams
* Lead global collaboration efforts across Australia, the US, and Europe
* Translate strategic goals into clear, actionable tasks
* Design simple but effective workflows and improve team efficiency
* Report on progress and help align everyone to shared outcomes

* Strong organisational and communication skills, with a get-it-done mindset
* Experience working with distributed/remote teams and across technical disciplines
* Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Trello)
* Confidence managing collaborations and deliverables across multiple stakeholders

Who We Are
The Centre for Population Genomics is a collaborative initiative of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (Garvan) in Sydney and MCRI in Melbourne. The Centre is directed by Daniel MacArthur who previously led a team at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Boston that was responsible for the development and open release of the Genome Aggregation Database (gnomAD), a collection of genetic data from over 140,000 individuals that has become one of the most widely-used reference databases in human genetics. The Centre is focussing on developing cutting-edge tools and resources to facilitate the conversion of genomic data into improved diagnosis and treatment. Ultimately, the Centre will generate and manage the largest sets of genomic and clinical data ever assembled in Australia and apply these to solve various scientific and medical problems.
We are committed to the safety of children and young people and takes a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of child abuse, exploitation and harm. Child safety is prioritised in our decision-making at all levels of the Institute.
