Our Canberra location is a true entertainment powerhouse, featuring high end multiplex screens, the exclusive Dendy Premium Lounge, and our crown jewel, the state-of-the-art IMAX theatre.
We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on Assistant Manager (2IC) to join our leadership team in this fast paced, film loving environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Cinema Manager, you will be a vital pillar of the venue’s success. As the 2IC, you will help lead the day-to-day operations of our Canberra venue, ensuring that every guest, whether they are visiting for a boutique indie film or a blockbuster IMAX experience, receives exceptional service.
You will work closely with the Cinema Manager to drive commercial performance, foster a vibrant team culture, and maintain the high operational standards that Dendy is known for. This is an incredible opportunity for a motivated leader to step into a high-profile role that blends traditional cinema, premium hospitality, and cutting-edge technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* To assist the Cinema Manager in carrying out the duties of the manager as provided for in the cinema award and be called upon to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Cinema Manager during their absence
* To supervise all areas of the cinema whilst on shift, including the supervision of Level 1 - 5 employees
* To apply quality control techniques and maintain a high level of cleanliness
Inventory control
* To perform work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment
* To apply intelligent approaches to solving complex problems in a timely and precise manner
* To be jointly responsible for the administration of the Cinema
* To assist in developing and maintaining staff training and standards, and rosters
* To assist in developing promotional activities
* Ensure high technical standards are maintained
* Other duties, as directed by the Cinema Manager
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous Cinema Management/Management experience
• High technical aptitude - previous experience with cinema digital projection systems a bonus
• Flourish in an exciting, fast paced, and high-pressure environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good computer skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel
• Initiative and high attention to detail with the ability to multitask
• Experience in managing, and leading Teams, including Staff Roster Management, Recruitment & Training
• Proven record of successful hospitality management, meeting financial targets, and delivering exceptional customer service outcomes
• Stock control and cash management skills & experience
• A love of quality cinema
