Hartwell Legal is a boutique law firm located in Malvern, Victoria, specialising in all areas of succession law, Wills and Estates, including:

- deceased estates
- trust litigation

We are a small, close-knit team, with:

- one Principal lawyer (accredited specialist in Wills & Estates, registered Trust & Estate Practitioner, member of the LIV Succession Law Executive Committee and planning committees for Tax Institute and STEP)
- four senior associates and special counsel with extensive and diverse experience in all areas of succession law
- experienced paralegals and support staff

The Role

An chance exists for a skilled practitioner to join our busy team.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4+ years PAE with experience and a passion for all or any of estate planning, probate and administration, litigation, including Part IV claims, removal of executor applications, judicial advice, incapacity disputes and VCAT matters.

The successful candidate may have conduct of a variety of files under close and caring mentorship by all of our experienced practitioners, engaging directly with clients, Counsel, the Court and other interested parties.

The role may involve drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney for clients of all demographics, complex estate planning, probate matters and other grant applications and estate administration, or you may choose your favourite area and specialise. You will be well supported with a collaborative team.

Hartwell Legal are seeking a candidate with integrity, patience, respect and a big heart.

You will have an established dedication and passion for succession law and all its intricacies.

You will have the ability to handle sensitive and emotional situations with empathy and professionalism. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, an analytical mind and strong communication skills. The candidate will require proficient computer skills. We are expecting a long-term commitment to a growing practice.

Ideally you will have at least 4 years' experience in this practice area, but most importantly you must be exceptionally organised, a fantastic time manager, and love finishing tasks masterfully by the deadline.

We will gladly consider experienced practitioners wishing to switch into this area of law from another area (e.g. from family law or commercial law) or practitioners who only wish to work in one of our key areas (e.g. only estate planning or only litigation, etc).
