The Role

Are you looking for a role where your work makes a meaningful impact? This position plays a vital part in formally recognising the exceptional achievements of our military and civilian Defence members. As the Honours and Awards (H&A) Manager, you will hold primary responsibility for overseeing non-operational H&A within Air Command, ensuring quality and integrity in recognition processes. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities:

* Manage Air Command H&A submissions in accordance with policy and regulations.
* Interpret policy and provide expert advice to stakeholders on eligibility requirements for H&A awards.
* Compile and deliver regular statistical reports on H&A for senior-level reporting.
* Coordinate submission deadlines by communicating requirements and instructions to stakeholders.
* Prepare nomination packages for the Air Commander of Australia and ensure accurate production of certificates and medallions for presentation.
* Coordinate the review and updating of H&A Air Command policy and guidance, including Standing Instructions and H&A web content.

Requests for hybrid working arrangements (working from home) will be considered once the initial

probation period ends and will be considered up to two days per week. Office location is RAAF Base

Glenbrook NSW.

About our Team

This role is based within the Personnel Directorate at Headquarters Air Command, working as part of a

dedicated team of approximately 20 military members.

The section delivers a broad range of functions, including:

* Category management for two military employment categories.
* Information and knowledge management.
* Employment category training and assessment.
* Honours and Awards (H&A) administration.

While embedded within the Personnel Directorate, the H&A Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy, collaborating closely with Air Command units across Australia, including some overseas units.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a professional who can manage moderately complex to complex tasks with limited

supervision.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

* Ability to organise workflow and make sound and independent decisions within their area of responsibility.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Capacity to provide policy advice based on legislation and established frameworks.
* Skills in research, analysis and problem solving.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely advice.
* Adaptability and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to team objectives.
Eligibility

Security Clearance

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".
