The Birdsville Hotel is calling experienced Chefs
We are currently seeking a qualified & experienced Chef to join us for the duration of our 2026 tourism season. This seasonal position has an employment duration requirement of approximately 7 months starting in the second half of March 2026 through until late October 2026.
The Iconic Birdsville Hotel is a family friendly hotel located in outback south west QLD and is on the edge of the Simpson Desert. Birdsville is a very popular outback tourism destination for adventurers, photographers, campers, hikers, 4wdrivers, adventure bike riders and all-round great people
We are an award-winning hotel who are well known for our genuine outback hospitality, great food, cold beer and comfortable well-appointed motel accommodation.
The Chef position suits an applicant with strong proven kitchen experience as well as the following attributes.
· Proof of qualification & current food safety supervisor certificate
· Has a passion for providing guests with meals to a high standard
· Takes great pride in meal presentation
· Has a confident understanding of portion & wastage control
· Appreciation for working with quality produce
· Has strong grill experience
· Has high standards of kitchen & personal hygiene
· Takes pride in maintaining a clean and well-presented kitchen
· Has the ability to operate under all required food safety standards
· Works well in team environments
· Displays a strong eye for detail across all aspects of the position requirements
· Shows flexibility in available hours of work around tour group guest schedules
· Understands the importance of good physical fitness in a busy work environment
· Can provide evidence of correct work visa for non-resident applications
Clean, comfortable and secure accommodation along with daily meals are provided for an affordable weekly fee and flights can be arranged to Birdsville from Brisbane.
