Job Title
The Principal Mining Engineer plays a pivotal role in the Earth Resources industries, overseeing the application of Occupational Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations and Dangerous Goods legislation across Victoria.
This senior position involves managing a team to develop and implement strategies for WorkSafe's Earth Resources inspectorate, providing expert advice and guidance on safety data management and risk assessment.
The successful candidate will have significant relevant experience, a high level of technical expertise, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* A minimum of 10 years operational experience within the Earth Resources industry.
* Comprehensive understanding of mining methods applicable to Victorian mines and their unique levels of inherent risk to human health and safety.
* Working independently as a technical specialist and constructively within a small of skilled professionals.
* Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
* Excellent analytical and conceptual skills and proven problem solving skills.
* Highly developed computer skills.
* Report writing skills and communication to the highest standard.
* Capable of delivering within schedules and budgets.
Required Qualifications include:
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications in mining engineering, civil engineering or related earth sciences.
* Workplace Health & Safety Management Systems Leading Auditing Qualifications.
* First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (or equivalent).
* Post Graduate Risk and Critical Control Management Qualifications.
