Strategic Partnerships & Commercial Lead

Montu is Australia’s largest healthtech business focused on alternative healthcare. Founded in 2019, it supports patients, doctors and pharmacies through its AlternaLeaf clinic, offers accredited healthcare education to clinicians via its SAGED platform, and supplies pharmacies across Australia through Leafio. Montu is also the founding member of Cannabis Council Australia, a non‑for‑profit advocacy body that advances legislative change across the healthcare landscape. Our mission is to make alternative healthcare more affordable and accessible for the millions who could benefit.

Job Description

Montu is transforming access to alternative healthcare, and Montu Brands is at the forefront of this change. We’re looking for a Strategic Partnerships & Commercial Lead to drive commercial growth and shape the future of patient care through high‑value partnerships.

This is a senior, high‑impact role where you’ll spearhead growth within our market‑access channel and build strategic relationships across clinics, prescribers, suppliers, and broader industry partners. Unlike product‑facing GP KAM roles, this position is focused on commercial strategy and partnerships at the clinic and corporate level, influencing prescribing through business levers rather than product detail.

What You’ll Do

Partnership Strategy & Growth

- Drive business development across Montu’s network of ~160 medical cannabis clinics, identifying opportunities for growth and deeper collaboration.
- Develop partnerships beyond the clinic—including suppliers, Montu’s Leafio and AlternaLeaf businesses, and potential cross‑industry partners.
- Support corporate development initiatives and supplier relationships, contributing to procurement and broader synergy opportunities.

Commercial Execution & Business Development

- Prospect, engage and convert partners from first outreach through to deal closure.
- Negotiate agreements, drive partner‑led revenue, and open new pathways for our field teams.
- Help refine KPIs and sales alignment as the business scales.

Relationship Leadership

- Own strategic relationships with prescribing partners and clinics, acting as their go‑to contact.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams internally to ensure partnerships translate into measurable success.

Performance & Reporting

- Track and report performance, ensuring compliance with TGA and regulatory frameworks.
- Share insights with senior leadership to inform ongoing strategy.

Qualifications

- Strategic mindset with the ability to spot commercial opportunities and think across business lines.
- Proven success in sales, business development, or partnerships within pharma, biotech, or medical devices.
- Strong track record of exceeding growth targets in regulated healthcare markets.
- Deep understanding of prescribing pathways, HCP engagement, and market dynamics.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Commercially sharp, strategic thinker with the ability to turn insights into action.
- Skilled negotiator with strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Comfortable working autonomously while leading cross‑functional collaboration.
- Experience in medicinal cannabis or emerging therapeutic areas (desirable).
- Understanding of TGA regulations, Authorised Prescriber pathways, and Special Access Schemes (desirable).

Additional Information

You’ll be joining a high‑performing, rapid‑paced team where your work drives meaningful impact in a leading tech company at the intersection of healthcare. We take pride in our driven and results‑focused culture, where ambitious individuals can push the boundaries of innovation and contribute to better outcomes for Australians.

Other Benefits Include

- Access to SAGED courses and more through the Greenhouse learning platform, fostering continuous growth and development.
- Enjoy discounts with over 450 retailers through our Reward and Recognition platform.
- The freedom of a full‑time, work‑from‑home role.
- Access to co‑working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and select regional cities.
- Mental health support through our wellbeing platform, Unmind.
- A private health insurance discount through Medibank.
- Up to 8 weeks of paid parental leave.
- Swag kits to celebrate key milestones in your journey with us.
- Enhance your home office with our work‑from‑home equipment allowance benefit.
- Being part of one of the fastest‑growing industries in Australia, improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients.

We’re committed to facilitating a barrier‑free recruitment process and work environment. If you require any accommodations, we welcome you to let us know so we can work with you to participate fully in our recruitment experience.
