Senior Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician

Employment Type: Full Time Temporary (Until 30 June 2026 with possibility of extension)

Position Classification: Social Worker - Level 3, Occupational Therapist - Level 3,Psychologist, Senior Psychologist, Clinical Nurse Specialist – Grade 2, Aboriginal Health Practitioner

Remuneration: $72, $134,338.00 per annum (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)

About the role

The Senior Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician provides advanced, culturally safe clinical services to Aboriginal people experiencing, or at risk of, firstepisode psychosis across the Griffith and Wagga Wagga regions. The role is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, delivering evidencebased and familyinclusive interventions, and coordinating recoveryoriented care aimed at reducing the duration of untreated psychosis. Working as a key member of the multidisciplinary Early Psychosis team, the clinician develops individualised care plans that address both clinical and cultural needs, including the impact of intergenerational trauma and cultural disconnection. The position also contributes to a positive, youthfriendly service environment and provides supervision and support to junior clinicians in line with NSW Health and MLHD service standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Provide culturally safe assessments, including mental state, risk and psychosocial assessments for Aboriginal consumers.
* Deliver evidencebased, recoveryoriented interventions for young people experiencing or at risk of early psychosis.
* Coordinate care and develop individualised treatment plans addressing clinical, cultural and social needs.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary Early Psychosis team to support safe and effective service delivery.
* Engage families, carers, Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders to support recovery and wellbeing.
* Provide crisis assessment and intervention in partnership with inpatient and outpatient services.

Your contribution as a healthcare professional will have a meaningful and positive impact, which is felt at a community level.

Criteria:

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

* Tertiary qualifications in nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, counselling, or Aboriginal Health (Djirruwang program), with current AHPRA registration or eligibility for membership with the relevant professional association.
* Demonstrated postgraduate experience working within mental health settings.
* Proven clinical experience and advanced knowledge in youth mental health and/or early psychosis.
* NSW Working With Children Check and NSW Clas C Drivers Licence
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, inclusive approach
* This is an identified Aboriginal position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent. Exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
