Responsibilities
* Product Leadership – Work with the Business Unit Director and Client to challenge the brief and identify valuable problems/solutions. Lead technical resources (Designers, Engineers and other specialties) to complete activities (value proposition design, concepting, detailed design, V/V) that create valuable new ventures, products and services.
* Project Planning – Collaborate with the project lead to define solutions that are desirable/feasible/viable within the venture context. Assist the project lead to plan and estimate the project by providing input to the required activities and resources to achieve the project aim.
* Technical Execution – Select or modify the most appropriate processes and methods to apply in product development activities. Define the appropriate level of quality for outputs and outcomes and ensure it is achieved.
* Risk Management – Identify and manage product risks with effective controls. Provide input to the Project Lead to identify and manage project risk.
* Review and Approvals – Ensure effective technical reviews for product development activities are conducted as planned. Coordinate and conduct system level design reviews.
* Mentor and coach others.
Qualifications & Experience
* A degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Graphics design, UI/UX design, Software Engineering or similar applicable technical discipline.
* 8+ years of experience in product design and development, including track record of inventing/creating or leading the invention/creation of new technologies and products.
* Experience developing products and managing teams (three or more) of technical resources through all stages of the product development process, from concept through production.
* Experience directing and reviewing outputs from technical personnel across disciplines in cross-disciplinary teams.
* Significant understanding of Medical Device Development processes and Quality Management Systems ISO 13485, or similar.
* Understanding of product development processes, methodologies, and practices (design thinking, agile development, design controls).
* Understanding of IEC 62304 Software Development, IEC 62366 Human Factors, ISO 14971 Risk Management and ISO 60601 Medical Electrical Equipment Safety.
