Byars is a family owned business operating under the brands Byars Packaging and Barwon Cleaning Supplies, supplying packaging, hospitality and cleaning solutions to customers across Victoria. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Commercial Manager – Sales & Service to lead our sales team, manage our service technician, and remain actively involved in the day-to-day sales and operational activity of the business.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being close to customers, supporting their team, and keeping sales and service running smoothly. You'll work directly with the Managing Director and play a key role in supporting growth across aged care, healthcare, hospitality and larger multi-site customers.
About the role
You will be responsible for:
* Leading, coaching and supporting a sales and account management team.
* Managing key customer relationships and acting as a senior escalation point.
* Driving a healthy pipeline of new and existing business opportunities.
* Staying hands-on with customers, customer meetings, site visits, quoting and proposals.
* Working closely with procurement and operations to improve efficiency and consistency.
* Managing our Service Technician, including scheduling installations, upgrades, servicing and reactive work.
* Supporting tenders and larger new business proposals.
About you
This role will suit someone who:
* Has experience in sales leadership or senior sales / account management.
* Is comfortable working in a hands-on, operational environment.
* Enjoys being close to customers, sites and day-to-day activity.
* Can manage people, priorities and service schedules effectively.
* Communicates clearly and follows things through.
* Is commercially minded, practical and down-to-earth.
Relevant industry experience and exposure to aged care or multi-site customers will be looked upon favourably, but are not essential.
