Executive Manager, Risk and Compliance

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Executive Manager of Risk and Compliance to join our executive leadership team and bring a passion for providing strategic oversight of risk management, compliance, assurance and child safety. This role will ensure our organisation continues to deliver safe, sustainable and compliant environments across our diverse service delivery locations.

This role ensures alignment with legislation and regulatory requirements, governance standards and organisational strategy while fostering a culture of proactive risk management and resilience.

As a trusted leader, the incumbent will collaborate with organisational leaders and external stakeholders to drive effective decision-making, quality assurance, safeguarding, operational continuity and the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives.

The Executive Manager, Risk and Compliance will demonstrate expert level knowledge, whilst being consultative and collaborative in their approach to change, staff empowerment and service delivery improvement by gathering diverse viewpoints and sharing the outcomes of decisions in a respectful, transparent manner.

The Y works across multiple fast moving and evolving sectors that requires a range of experience and skills. The Executive Manager Risk and Compliance will be an energised empoweree of people and will positively influence the culture of the organisation relating to the safe and enjoyable experiences of our participants across all service delivery areas.

About You

You are an experienced leader with a strong background in risk management, compliance, assurance, or governance—ideally within complex, community-facing and regulated sectors. You combine analytical and strategic thinking with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust across all levels of an organisation.

As a values-based leader, you will inspire and empower our people, with a drive for problem-solving and results. You will have the experience of balancing strategic and operational drivers, combined with exceptional relationship building and communication skills that will empower you to navigate complex business environments and make strategy a reality.

Your values-based leadership will be supplemented by appreciating the commercial reality of our diverse business units in a large and complex not-for-profit organisation. You will be confident, inquisitive and analytical, identifying new improvements and initiatives.

What we are looking for

- Tertiary qualification in a related field and/or equivalent experience
- Executive or Senior Leadership level experience in risk, compliance, governance or assurance ideally within an education environment or related sector.
- Demonstrated ability to champion child safety, embed a culture of safeguarding and ensure alignment with legislative and regulatory child safety requirements.
- Proven ability to inspire and empower individuals and teams, foster cross-organisational collaboration and drive values driven leadership

Responsibilities

- Provide strategic oversight of risk management, compliance, assurance and child safety across diverse service delivery locations.
- Ensure alignment with legislation, regulatory requirements and governance standards while supporting organisational strategy.
