About the role
Provide Safety, quality and environment (SQE) leadership and direction for Keolis Downer Northern Beaches (KDNB) to ensure the success, growth and profitability of the organization.
Manage and coordinate the development of the Business Management System (BMS) for KDNB, encompassing the integration of the BMS into operations across all locations.
The Safety and Security Manager is accountable to the General Manager of Keolis Downer Northern Beaches for achieving key corporate and SQE objectives and is responsible for the coordination of all SQE-related domains.
Mandatory Qualifications
* A degree, post‑graduate qualification, or other relevant academic credentials in the field of workplace health and safety or an equivalent discipline is required.
* Lead Auditor training is highly desirable.
* Possession of ICAM certification or an equivalent qualification in Incident Investigation Training.
Knowledge & Experience
* Extensive professional experience in safety, environment, and Quality and a demonstrable record of delivering improvement.
* A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation is essential.
* Practical experience in implementing safety management systems within the transport sector is crucial.
* Demonstrated experience in conducting incident investigations and fostering cultural change while promoting best practices in safety is necessary.
* Detailed knowledge of WHS and passenger safety regulations.
* Have the capability and willingness to align with Keolis Downer's vision, mission and values, and work effectively with others to achieve the Company's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
* Manage the accreditation process for all KDNB requirements as specified in the contract.
* Implement KD Bus business management systems, including supporting proprietary systems into the operations. Develop appropriate amendments to ensure NSW regulatory requirements and specific components addressing KDNB's operations.
* Manage, mentor, and develop the KDNB SQE team.
* Ensure that the local SQE team receives the necessary training to deliver the required level of service. Oversee accreditation requirements and ensure ISO compliance across KDNB.
* Coordinate and manage audit programs, participating in both internal and external audits as needed.
* Assist with security and emergency activities by providing advice, support, and contributing to day‑to‑day operations.
* Liaise with and provide reports to the appropriate regulators as required.
* Consolidate and report on KDNB KPIs for the Business Management System (BMS) and generate safety statistics on a monthly basis.
* Undertake any other duties as required from time to time subject to knowledge, experience and competency.
