Primary objective
Develop and implement Department of Education and Training Information and Records Management framework, policies, practices and
procedures, and provide expert advice to the department and government schools to ensure compliance with the requirements of the
Information Act 2002 and NT Government Record Keeping Standard.
Context statement
Quality Assurance Services (QAS) is responsible for managing the department's assurance activities including strategic risk management,
internal audit planning, completion of audits and reviews, and information privacy. The team also maintain and promote integrity policies
and procedures, including conflict of interest, gifts and benefits, fraud control and ICAC requests
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assess the adequacy, effectiveness and integration of current information and records management practices and procedures across
the department and government schools and ensure alignment with applicable government standards, legislation and department
priorities.
1. Complete regular reviews and evaluations of frameworks, policies and guidelines to inform future policy updates or development.
2. Work collaboratively with project and program teams, including the Education Management Transformation Program team, to assess
the current state of information and records management in schools and propose future state to be incorporated into the new
Enterprise Management System developed for government schools.
1. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including the department's operational policy team and Information
Management Services within the Department of Corporate Digital Development.
1. Provide expert advice and innovation to influence best practices and standards for information management and recordkeeping across
the department and all government schools.
1. Support the department's information governance, security, privacy, and risk frameworks in line with best practice.
2. Undertake duties that support the team and when required provide leadership and guidance to the team.
Selection criteria
Essential
3. Demonstrated experience in information management, information governance, or records management within complex government
or regulated environments.
1. Strong understanding of legislation, including the Information Act 2002, and other relevant legislations, standards and frameworks
relating to information, records management, privacy, security, and FOI.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and people from diverse cultures to achieve outcomes.
1. Proven ability to assess, design, and implement enterprise-level information systems and manage projects in a timely manner.
2. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic advisory capabilities and experience in the development and delivery of frameworks,
policies and guidelines.
1. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to deliver high-quality reports, correspondence and
presentations.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline e.g. information management, business, education, legal or another related field.
2. Experience in Microsoft office tools and electronic records management systems.
