Job Title: Senior Closure Advisor
About the Role
This position plays a key role in providing technical advice and support to the business in closure planning, management, and minimisation of risks and impacts on the physical environment as they relate to closure.
* Provide technical advice and support to the business in closure planning, management, and risk mitigation.
* Develop and implement effective closure strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and minimise environmental impacts.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist mine closure team in developing closure designs and studies.
* Undertake project planning and coordination for research and development projects.
* Work with site personnel and contractors to ensure the development of mine closure studies and site closure plans meet project and regulatory requirements.
* Design, review, and update comprehensive mine closure plans in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
* Coordinate the development of completion criteria in line with closure outcomes.
* Assist in developing business closure standards and procedures.
* Support functional teams by providing information and guidance on closure aspects at operational sites.
* Conduct sampling and analysis work of mineral waste and soil as required to address knowledge gaps in landform design.
* Integrate with site teams to embed closure plans during operations to minimise future liabilities.
* Engage with stakeholders to ensure concerns and expectations are addressed.
* Project manage research for closure on various studies and scientific research projects.
Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining, Civil or Environmental), Environmental Science, Geoscience, or similar.
* Minimum 7+ years of experience in mining; operations or consultancy.
* Mine closure / environmental restoration experience is highly desirable.
* Working knowledge of Environmental Legislation relevant to the Mining Industry.
* Demonstrated technical writing skills (Drafting mine closure plans, scope of work etc.).
* Strong experience across broad range of technical disciplines including mine planning, hydrogeology, geochemistry, landform design and evolution (highly desirable).
* Project management and/or contractor management experience.
* Arc GIS and Deswik / Surpac skills (highly desirable).
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
