See Yourself in the Team
Bankwest has a proud West Australian heritage and a long‑standing reputation for innovating ahead of the industry. Today, we're building tomorrow's bank, one that's digital at its core, deeply customer‑led, and engineered for scale.
To help shape that future, we're looking for a Crew Tech Lead for our Core Product Platform to provide strategic technology leadership across our core banking and product platforms.
This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role at the heart of Bankwest's transformation - ideal for a technology leader who thrives in complex, mission‑critical environments and is motivated by building resilient platforms that power great customer experiences.
Your Impact & Contribution
As Crew Tech Lead, you'll act as a trusted technology advisor and "mini‑CIO" for the Core Product Platform, guiding the evolution of our core banking architecture while enabling delivery teams to move fast - safely.
You'll lead the teams responsible for Bankwest's core banking engineering and integration, driving platform uplift and modernisation across our Core Product systems. Working closely with product and business leaders, you'll translate strategic intent into clear technical direction and sustainable engineering outcomes.
What you'll do
* Provide strategic technology leadership across Bankwest's Core Product and Core Banking platforms
* Define and own the technical roadmap, aligning with enterprise technology strategy, reference architectures, and modernisation agendas
* Guide the evolution of our core banking architecture, balancing resilience, regulatory requirements, and delivery pace
* Lead platform uplift initiatives, including decoupling, integration, and simplification of legacy systems
* Enable autonomous delivery squads by setting clear architectural guardrails and removing technical blockers
* Champion modern engineering practices, including microservices, domain‑aligned architectures (BIAN), secure‑by‑design principles, and cloud‑native development
* Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical decisions, risk trade‑offs, and cross‑domain dependencies
* Grow and empower engineers and technical leaders, fostering a culture of strong engineering, continuous improvement, and accountability
About you
You're an experienced technology leader who blends deep engineering and architecture expertise with the ability to inspire, coach, and influence at scale.
You bring clarity to complexity and are comfortable making tough trade‑offs in high‑impact, regulated environments.
You'll likely bring:
* Proven experience leading mission‑critical platforms (e.g. core banking, payments, or large‑scale product platforms)
* Strong background in platform engineering, integration, and application modernisation
* Demonstrated ownership of technical roadmaps and long‑term architecture strategy
* Experience balancing delivery speed, platform resilience, risk, and technical debt
* Strong knowledge of enterprise data standards, reference architectures, and secure‑by‑design principles
* The ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders with confidence and credibility
* A passion for building modern, sustainable tech ecosystems and developing high‑performing engineering teams
* You're Perth‑based, or ready to be, and value being close to your teams and stakeholders.
