People & Development Specialist (HR Manager)
Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC) is the Native Title Representative Body (NTRB), delivering native title and other services across the Pilbara, Mid West, Murchison and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia.
YMAC is run by a First Nations board of directors, representing several native title groups, each of whom have their own language, culture, traditions and protocols.
YMAC services include native title claim and future act representation; heritage services; executive office, community, and economic development assistance; land administration, and natural resource management support.

About the Role:
YMAC is currently seeking a full time (75 hours per fortnight) People & Development Specialist to lead the People & Development team in our Perth office on a permanent contract.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving initiatives that support high performance, effective change and sustainable business outcomes.
You will lead a small team delivering end-to-end HR advice and support to all levels of the organisation, as well as driving learning and development to support building a culture of performance, innovation, and empowerment.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Provides comprehensive HR advice and support to leaders and employees at all levels across the organisation.
Coordinates learning and development initiatives in support of building a culture of performance across the organisation
Oversees all end-to-end recruitment processes from job creation to onboarding.
Interprets and applies industrial instruments, including the Enterprise Agreement and Fair Work Act.
Supports employee relations matters, including performance management, grievances, and dispute resolution.
Develops and implements strategies to enhance employee engagement and retention.
Supports workplace health and safety initiatives, including risk assessments and WHS committee coordination.
Ensures the maintenance of accurate HR records and manage HRIS systems.
Provides accurate & timely advice to the Chief Executive Officer, EMT & the Board of Directors.
About You:
You will be an experienced Generalist Human Resources Specialist with a track record of providing guidance and advice.
You will also be an empathetic, compassionate Manager with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Selection Criteria
Qualifications & Experience:
Tertiary Qualification or relevant experience (5+ years) in human resources or similar role
Substantial experience delivering HR services, support, and expertise that meets the requirements of the organisation and its stakeholders to achieve its strategic priorities.
Experience working in a culturally diverse workplace
Skills
High level communication and interpersonal skills including a proven ability to prepare written reports, establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and negotiate outcomes
Sound knowledge of MS Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Proven ability to prioritise own work and have good attention to detail
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Flexible, patient and caring when dealing with all levels of staff
Develop and implement ideas
Make informed decisions and take action when required
Effectively liaise with and coordinate personnel and activities
Ability to encourage staff to exchange views and resolve problems
Ability to supervise, lead, and develop staff with empathy and understanding
Knowledge
Knowledge and understanding of relevant HR legislative and regulatory frameworks

Understanding of working with and for First Nations people.
