About the role
As a Senior Engineer – Network Planner you will lead the identification, research and development of design and planning initiatives across the Energy Network.
This role involves strategic technical evaluations, project management and the implementation of engineering solutions that support the development of broad plans, budgets and strategies.
You will play a key role in delivering high-impact projects, fostering stakeholder relationships and driving innovation in service delivery.
This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.
About you
You are a proactive and strategic thinker with a strong background in engineering within the Energy, Electrical or Utilities sectors.
You thrive in complex environments, are confident in managing both planned and unplanned events, and are passionate about delivering high-quality technical outcomes.
Your ability to build relationships and contribute to commercial partnerships will be essential to your success.
Required qualifications
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent meeting graduate membership requirements for Engineers Australia
Valid driver's licence
WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
Maintenance of all necessary regulatory industry and business licences and authorisations
Desired experience
Extensive experience in a similar engineering role within the Energy / Electrical or Utilities industry
In-depth knowledge of network design philosophies, statutory requirements and Essential Energy Electrical Safety Rules
Demonstrated ability to manage technical issues during planned and unplanned events
Experience in managing business unit tasks and promoting organisational image
Familiarity with strategic contingency planning and information systems
Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation access (desirable)
Key skills
Proven ability to resolve critical unplanned events using sound technical knowledge
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Experience in managing audits and reporting with actionable recommendations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organised, self-motivated and adaptable to changing workloads
Strong time-management and planning abilities with attention to detail
Proficient in relevant computer operations and business systems
