ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Environmental Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our commitment to environmental excellence.
You will collaborate closely with the Environmental Manager to ensure that our operations align with contractual environmental standards, legal regulations, planning permissions, and the expectations of key stakeholders. Your expertise will be essential in supporting the development and execution of programs, projects, and initiatives aimed at enhancing our environmental stewardship.
KEY DUTIES AND TASKS
* Undertake field-based environmental work including groundwater and surface water sampling, waste characterisation, weed spraying, seeding, and site audits.
* Prepare scopes of work and manage environmental contractors and consultants.
* Maintain and manage environmental data, including audits, legal obligations, emissions data, risk assessments, and spatial data.
* Support stakeholder engagement with regulators, community groups, Traditional Owners, and other external parties.
* Assist with the continuous improvement and maintenance of Norton Gold Fields' Environmental Management System.
* Support the preparation of environmental approval documents such as mining proposals, mine closure plans, clearing permits, works approvals, and licences.
* Prepare internal and external environmental reports.
* Provide environmental advice and guidance to the workforce and leadership team.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Minimum 2 years' experience in an environmental role (mining experience desirable).
* Strong understanding of WA environmental legislation, including EP Act & Regulations, Mining Act, WHS Act, AH Act, and RIWI Act.
* Experience working with Environmental Management Systems.
* Exposure to stakeholder engagement, including regulators, community groups, contractors, and Traditional Owners.
* Experience preparing or supporting baseline studies, approvals, and environmental applications.
* Competency in Microsoft Office and GIS applications (QGIS preferred).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to workforce and management.

* Receive up to $5k site allowance per annum, depending on your site location.
* Receive up to 10% short-term incentive payment (STIP) of your base salary.
